Shirley Sessions

Shirley A. Sessions recently retired from her position as the Vice President, Community Development Manager for Regions Bank, whose coverage area includes Central/South Alabama and Northwest Florida. She managed the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) data for the regional coverage area and ensured the bank maintained the required level of compliance as set forth by its Federal regulatory agency and the Board of Directors. Sessions managed, developed, and updated as appropriate, companywide CRA policies and procedures to ensure CRA guidelines are met and maintained. She also provided and developed training for internal bank staff on CRA compliance regulations.
With over 30 years in the financial services industry, Sessions continues to use her professional and technical skills to build relationships with nonprofit organizations, local area service groups and individuals to make the community a better place for all. Sessions currently serves as member and past chair of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce’s Growth Alliance Task Force, Commissioner for the City of Mobile Planning Commission, South Alabama Regional Planning Commission’s Revolving Loan Committee member, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. member, Delta Resource Educational Association of Mobile (DREAM) Foundation, serving as its assistant treasurer, member of Mt Hebron Church Ministries where she serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and newly appointed member of the Africatown Redevelopment Corporation board of directors.
During her career, she has received numerous awards and recognition; Credit Professional of the Year by Credit Women International, Outstanding Member of Urban Financial Services Coalition, YWCA’s Women of Achievement Industry Leader Award, Outstanding Service Award by Highpoint Baptist Church, Outstanding Banker of the Year by the University of South Alabama Small Business Development Center, Who’s Who in Black Alabama, Delta of the Year by Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Citizen of the Year by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
A graduate of the University of South Alabama with a B.S. in Business Management, Shirley and her husband James are proud parents of two adult children.
